HOLIDAY PICK-UP #2: NIKE SB PREMIUM DUNK "CALI" HIGH

To go along with my last post, my lovely mother also was able to scoop up the "Cali" NIKE SB DUNKS.

I had originally passed on these for the soul purpose of cash. I had been saving for a pair of new Air Jordan Retros and these were not at the top of my priority list. However when my mom gave me a call and told me that LS&S had many sizes left, I told her absolutely please! I was shocked to find out that they had these still on the shelves in their shop but was excited for the chance to get my pair.

The shoe Celebrates the birthplace of skateboarding. This makeup features the same materials and styling as the original Cali Dunk low. White tumbled leather combines with pecan suede, detailed with dark brown laces and lining to go with a green midsole and red outsole. Red also colors the state flag’s star that is tagged onto the ankle collar to finish off this wonderful sneaker.

This past week, I had to hear the sad news that my local skate shop (Laguna Surf and Sport) was going out of business. LS&S was the local spot in Aliso Viejo for people to go get their gear for their boards as well as new threads to rock while they skated. 

It was also a prime location to pick up the latest releases when it came to skate shoes. It was super low-key so it was easy to grab a pair of the latest NIKE release. 

With the shop going out of business, ALL of their footwear was 50% of and there was no way I was missing this one. As a Christmas present, my mom went up to the shop while I was with my brother and bought us all Dunks for Christmas. This was one of two pair that she got for me.

This collaboration between Nike SB and Los Angeles skate shop Brooklyn Projects was inspired by the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. The thick red collar lining represents the red velvet ropes that separate celebrity from us regular randos. The black buttery suede upper alludes to camera bodies and features a series of reflective flash bulb graphics that add a sweet touch to the sneaker.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

To all the readers out there, I would like to say Merry Christmas. Today we remember the birth of Jesus. I am fortunate enough to have spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my family. My brother came home from college and was home for a few days, my grandfather came out from Arizona and my cousin came out with his wife from Chicago.

I am at a point in my life where it is not about the presents, gifts or anything like that. I am over joyed purely with the fact that I have my family together and under the same roof if only for a few hours.

I pray that all of you have a safe and wonderful evening and that you may spend time with those you love.

THROWBACK JAM OF THE WEEK

Ok so I know I am going to make some people mad by saying this but one of my all time favorite shoes is the NIKE AIR FORCE 1. The AF1 lands in my top 5 favorite sneakers of all time. When I turned 18, the ONLY gift that I asked my parents for was a pair of ALL WHITE AF1 LOWS. That was it. I still have them and still wear them although they are a little beat.

Although I was too young to appreciate it at the time, Nelly's "Air Force 1" music video is one of my favorite tracks ever. I plan on one day going to a sneaker shop with my homies wearing our track suite and each of us getting at least 1 pair of AF1s each.
